Bryant McBride has been creating value and driving change at the intersection of technology, sports, and media for over 25 years. As a seasoned executive, investor, filmmaker, and serial entrepreneur, he is currently working on his ninth startup. Bryant’s mission is built on commitment, community, and conscience through learning at West Point, Trinity, Harvard, the National Hockey League, and over 15 companies as an investor, founder, and CEO. Bryant created and co-produced the critically acclaimed and award-winning film “Willie,” which debuted on ESPN in 2019, and was runner-up for Best Film at the Hot Docs Film Festival – the biggest documentary film festival in North America. “Willie” has become a beloved yearly addition on the NHL Network, NESN and was featured by the American Film Showcase in partnership with the US State Department and Government Affairs Canada. It has been shown worldwide across 45 countries to date and has been translated into over 20 languages. “Willie” can currently be found on NBC’s Peacock in the US and CBC’s GEM in Canada. In 2024, he released his second film, “Beyond Their Years” which was chosen “Social Impact Film of the Year” at the 2024 Essence Film Festival. Before launching his entrepreneurial and film making career, Bryant was the VP of Business Development for the National Hockey League, where he led the evaluation and creation of new businesses, including international broadcasting, rink development, and multiple grassroots fan base-building initiatives. Bryant’s entrepreneurial drive and team-building acumen have resulted in the creation, growth, and profitable sale of companies such as myteam.com, Vision Sports and Entertainment Partners, Football Scouts Inc., and Sports Technologies Inc., where he was able to integrate the benefits of fast-moving technology with the wide cultural impact of the sports industry. The aforementioned companies were sold to The Active Network, ESPN/Disney, and Sports Illustrated/Time Warner respectively. Bryant has also built growth initiatives with Fortune 500 companies and leading consumer brands, including M&M Mars, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Kraft Foods, Sunkist, Sam’s Club/Walmart, Bank of America, Choice Hotels, and United Technologies. Bryant was elected the first African American class president at West Point, where he served as a Cadet from 1984-86. He graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut, became the first African American class president, and was voted an All-American defenseman for Trinity’s Championship hockey team. In 1990, Bryant obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Bryant has served on the board of directors of the New York City Track and Field Armory, the New York Road Runners Club, the largest running club in the world and organizer of the New York City Marathon, The Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston and currently serves as the Chair of the Carnegie Initiative for inclusion and acceptance in hockey. In his spare time, Bryant is a youth hockey administrator, yoga practitioner, and runner who has started and completed 26 marathons.
