Stay Energized: Leading with Clarity and Resilience in a Demanding World

By Kerry Seitz

Last week, I was commuting to Boston for our Women’s Leadership Program with the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. I took full advantage of my 17 minutes on the commuter rail to map out my priority list for the week. The length of the list was overwhelming and I was both grateful and exhausted in realizing it was only Wednesday. At the same time, I felt panic when I saw we are only a week away from November.

Anyone else with me?

How can the pace of life feel endless and fleeting at the same time?! Our days are so bloated with deadlines, tasks, needs, fire drills that we don’t realize how little (translation: none!) time we leave for ourselves.

For the last 3 minutes of my train commute, I put away my phone and just looked out the window. Some deep breaths and glimpses of Fall foliage were the exact reset I needed.

That small pause reminded me how essential it is to intentionally create space to recharge — not just once in a while, but as an ongoing practice. And that’s exactly what inspired our next evolution in leadership development: Thrive365.

Introducing
Thrive365: The Connected Leader

A high value, affordable and flexible leadership development experience that builds strong leaders, retains top talent, and energizes culture — on your schedule.

Thrive365, is a yearlong leadership development journey that helps leaders sustain growth, focus, and connection all year long. We will kick off our journey together at the 2026 Simmons Leadership Conference, returning on March 17, and then dive into our first Learning Block: Stay Energized. This block is all about mastering internal leadership—the ability to stay clear, resilient, and steady even when the pace is relentless.

A Full Spectrum of Learning Opportunities

From live, expert-led webinars and on-demand learning kits to reflection tools and meaningful networking—both in person and online—our participants will experience a full spectrum of ways to learn and grow.

Through this block, leaders explore how to:

  • Regain clarity amid constant change by reconnecting to what matters most.
  • Strengthen resilience to bounce back from setbacks with intention and self-awareness.
  • Build sustainable pace so they can lead effectively without burning out.

Breaking the Myth of “Doing It All”

We also look at the myths many of us have absorbed about “doing it all” and the importance of setting boundaries that protect focus and well-being.

The truth is, energy—not time—is the real currency of leadership. When we manage it well, we not only perform better—we show up better for our teams, families, and communities.

A Reflection to Carry Forward

So I’ll leave you with the same reflection I offered that day:

What gives you energy—and what quietly drains it?

The more aware we become of those patterns, the more intentionally we can lead from our best selves. And when leaders stay energized, everyone around them has permission to thrive too.
